Welcome! Golden State Elite Hockey is a youth tier ice hockey program for Northern California players from 12U to 18U. We are the top performing tier program in the state and we have been ranked in the top 20 AA clubs in the US by Culturama.
Our rinks are in Cupertino, San Francisco, and Vacaville.
Last season was greatly affected by COVID-19. We managed to create some sort of season for our members, but it was limited. We had two teams make the State playoffs and one of those teams went to the finals. We are looking forward to returning to something resembling normal in the Fall.
The first regular season CAHA AA weekend is in the books and we went a collective 13-6-2. Here is how each team did:
All of our 12U-16U AA teams have secured a spot in the top 4 of their conferences which guarantees them a spot in CAHA's AA regular season. This is the second year in a row that CAHA has had this format and the second year in a row that we have sent all of our teams to play in the CAHA regular season. We have the most teams in the top 4 than any other club in California.
For 2007 - 2009 birth years, the GSE coaching staff is holding skills clinics in Vacaville on these dates: 10/22, 11/12, 1/28, 2/25, and 3/25.
We had a great Labor Day weekend! Four teams made it to the finals. Our 18 Combo team won the Sun and Fun down in San Diego. The other finalists were: 12U, 14N, and 16S. We had 8 shutouts and scored 117 goals! Great way to start the season!

This season in addition to CAHA league games, our 16U AAA team will be playing in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation. This allows our team to play the top teams in the country.
Starting this season, in addition to playing in CAHA's AA league, our 18U AA Combo team will be playing in the NAPHL-Showcase league. This will take the team to Texas, Minnesota, and Michigan playing some of the top teams in the nation.
GSE alumni, Spencer Light, is headed to the St. Olaf in Minnesota to play NCAA D III hockey after playing 2 years with the NAHL Minnesota Magicians. Congrats!
GSE alumni, Josh Hayden, signed with the El Paso Rhinos of the NA3HL. Good luck and have fun!
Tryouts have concluded. We have now fielded the following teams:
Congrats to the players that made our teams. Hope all others are able to find a team to play on and try again next year.
Since our first tryout 11 years ago, one of our philosophies is to not field a tier team for the sake of fielding a team. That philosophy came into play last weekend.
We did not field a 12 North team. Its not from a lack of sign-ups, its because that we felt that any team that we would have formed would not be strong enough to make the top 12 for CAHA's AA league.
We believe that the 12U players that registered for the North would be better served with the same GSE coach and more practice ice time at the "A" level with Vacaville Jets Youth Hockey. That's the right level for those players.
It's better to put players at the right level for the best development than shoot for the stars at a higher level and receive limited development. "AA" is not necessarily better than "A" and this case proves that.
GSE alumni, Ben Kevan, was draft pick #13 in the WHL's US Priority Draft. The Everett Silvertips selected our former forward. Congrats!
GSE alumni, Josh Erickson, was drafted to the USPHL's Boston Jr. Bruins. Congrats!
